TOP PITCHING PERFORMANCES FOR SEPTEMBER 30TH WEEKEND

Sunday at All Pro Freight Stadium, there were a lot of impressive high school arms on display, here’s some notes from Sunday, 9/30.  Position Player notes will also be posted in the coming days.

TOP RIGHT HANDER SHOWINGS FROM 9/30:

JAYCE VANCENA: He showed good command of his fastball, and it sat between 86-88mph, and topped at 90mph.  He showed a sharp breaking ball that was between 71-74mph, and has a big league body at 6’4” 225lbs (at 16 years old).

SAM VILK:  Another big strong kid, who has a similar body type to Vancena.  His fastball sat between 83-86mph, and the ball seemed to jump on hitters with a sense of deception.  Guys were not getting good swings off on his fastball.  As he continues to develop, and get even more of feel for his secondary pitches he can be a very good arm at the next level.

AUSTIN PREVIT: His fastball sat between 84-86mph, and topped at 87mph on this particular day.  He throws from a lose low 3/4 arm slot, which adds deception.  He definitely has more in his arm, and his fastball has good life from that arm slot now.

TOP LEFT HANDER SHOWINGS FROM 9/30:

ELI KRAUS: Has the ability to throw three pitches for strikes, and great feel for all three.  Fastball sat between 80-84mph, curveball 66-69mph, and change up 73-75mph.  Lean build that projects out, doesn’t have to make huge velocity gain to be successful at the next level, for his pitch ability will carry him a long way.

ADRIAN CALEZ:  Fastball sat between 80-84mph, showed a plus change up, and was commanding his fastball on both sides of the plate.  Breaking ball was not super sharp, but was effective in throwing it for strikes.

GERRY SALSBURY: Fastball sat 80-83mph, showed great command of a plus breaking ball, and went right at hitters.
